Recycling glass helps to protect the environment.

Our story

In 2019, municipalities in Northern Virginia stopped collecting glass as part of single stream recycling due to changing economics of recycling. Because of this change, residents now have two basic options of how to handle any glass- discard it with the trash or separate and transport to one of the designated glass recycling collection points throughout the area. However, these options are not ideal or practical for many consumers. Many people are not comfortable discarding glass in the trash, prefer glass packaging over plastic, or plastic isn’t available (When was the last time you saw wine in a plastic bottle? 😄). These recycling conscious consumers are not ready to place glass in the trash. So many are left with only one option and that’s to haul their own glass to one of the designated county locations, or worse, dispose of their glass in the trash. This can be challenging and time consuming!

Love4Glass offers a solution! Love4Glass is a local company founded in 2022 to offer ‘curbside’ glass pick up. At Love4Glass we have a passion for recycling and more importantly a passion for glass. Since starting in late 2022, we have diverted over 55,000 lbs of glass from the trash stream! We believe glass should be recycled and not just thrown away. As area residents, we also appreciate the challenges of dealing with recycling as an individual, community, or business. We want to improve the glass recycling experience for our customers and know what it takes to get this done right. This means we will not only transport glass to its final location in a safe and clean manner but also help educate customers on what glass can and can’t be recycled.

What happens to the glass and why recycle it?

Did you know that glass is infinitely recyclable? That’s right! It never decomposes, which is why we want to keep it out of landfills and it can be turned into new glass or glass products over and over again.

Did you know that Fairfax county has a goal of zero waste by 2040? By recycling your glass you can help that goal. Just fill out our contact form and let us know how we can help!

Nationally, the Glass Packaging Institute which represents North America’s glass container industry is striving for a goal of 50% of all glass to be recycled by 2030. Visit their website for more information on glass recycling
